Vasanta Navsamvatsar — the Vedic / Vikrami New Year, observed on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. Arya Samaj observes it as Sristi Diwas (Day of Creation) with morning havan, Naasadiya Sukta, neem-jaggery prasad, and tulsi-planting. Also the start of Vikram Samvat.

Mantra

ॐ ब्रह्मणे नमः। ॐ सृष्ट्यै नमः।

Om brahmane namah, Om srishtyai namah

Salutations to Brahma the creator; salutations to the act of Creation itself — invoked on the day Vedic tradition holds the universe was first manifested.

How to recite

Wake before dawn, snan, and Sandhya. Perform an extended morning havan dedicated to Brahma and Sristi (creation). Recite the Naasadiya Sukta (Rigveda 10.129 — the great hymn of creation) and the Purusha Sukta. Plant a tulsi or neem sapling. Read the opening chapter of Satyarth Prakash on Brahma. Many Arya Samaj families perform a small Vasanta-aarambh sabha at home with neem-jaggery prasad.

Benefits

Chaitra Shukla Pratipada is held in Vedic tradition to be the day Brahma began Sristi (creation). The Arya Samaj observes it as Vasanta Navsamvatsar — the true Vedic / Vikrami New Year — and as Sristi Diwas. It is also the start of the Vikram Samvat year (Vikram Samvat 2083 begins on 19 March 2026). The neem-jaggery prasad symbolises the year's natural mix of bitter and sweet, accepted with equanimity by the Vedic seeker.
