Shrinathji Nathdwara Pravesh Patotsav — the anniversary of Shrinathji's installation at Nathdwara on Magh Krishna Saptami (Falgun Krishna Saptami in Amanta panchang, 1672 CE), observed annually as the most important seva-pith utsav at the Nathdwara haveli. Lakhs of Pushti Marg vaishnavas reach Nathdwara for the Patotsav darshan, the special abhisheka, and the Mewari-Vraja bhog seva.

Mantra

श्रीनाथजी की जय

Shrinathji ki Jaya

Victory to Shrinathji — the universal Pushti Marg salutation, raised in haveli courtyards from Nathdwara to every Vallabha-vamsha home altar across Bharat.

How to recite

Read the Nathdwara Patotsav Varta (the Pushti Marg account of Shrinathji's six-month journey from Mt. Govardhan to Sinhad village, eventual rest at Nathdwara, and the bullock-cart that refused to move further — the Lord himself choosing this site). Sing the Surdas padas of Govardhan-vipralambha (the 'separation from Govardhan' padas composed during the journey). Visit Nathdwara if possible — the Patotsav haveli darshan is the most coveted of the year.

Benefits

Patotsav commemorates the day Shrinathji's bullock-cart, journeying south through Rajasthan to escape Aurangzeb's persecution of Vraja-bhumi (1669-1672 CE), halted at Sinhad village (renamed Nathdwara — 'Door of the Lord') and refused to move further. The Mewar king Maharana Raj Singh I gave protection and funded the new haveli. The 1672 CE pravesh established Nathdwara as the principal seva-pith of the Pushti Marg for the next 350+ years. Patotsav darshan is held to confer the merit of the original 1672 Nathdwara seva-installation.

✦ Special Note

Nathdwara was protected by the Mewar dynasty — the Maharana of Udaipur is the formal patron-shishya of Shrinathji to this day, and the eight-time daily seva at the Nathdwara haveli is the unbroken seva-rasa established by Vitthalnathji Gusainji and refined by the Tilakayat Maharaj of the Vallabha-vamsha.
