Mantra
सोपानकाका महाराज की जय
Sopankaka Maharaj ki Jaya
Victory to Sant Sopankaka Maharaj — Mauli's younger brother who attained samadhi at Sasvad on the Karha river.
How to recite
Sing the abhangas of Sant Sopankaka — especially his 'Vithu Mauli' abhangas. Visit Sasvad if possible (his samadhi-place on the Karha river, ~30 km south of Pune). Read at least one chapter of the Dnyaneshwari at sunset.
Benefits
Sant Sopankaka (1277-1296) was the third of the four Apegaon siblings, between Mauli and Muktabai. He attained sanjeevan samadhi at Sasvad on Margashirsha Krishna Trayodashi 1296 CE — within months of Mauli's samadhi at Alandi. His grace deepens the bond of bhakti-companionship — the Sopankaka palkhi from Sasvad joins the Mauli palkhi from Alandi at Saswad-junction during the Ashadhi Wari.
✦ Special Note
The Sopankaka palkhi from Sasvad joins the Dnyaneshwar Mauli palkhi from Alandi during the Ashadhi Wari — uniting the brothers' palanquins for the final 200 km walk to Pandharpur. Per the Marathi Drik Panchang (Amanta system) — Margashirsha Krishna Trayodashi.
