Om Shri Guru Siddharama Devaya Namah

Salutations to Sri Guru Siddharama — the yogi-sharana and supreme exemplar of kayaka

How to recite

Visit the local Lingayat matha for the Siddharama Jayanti pravachana. Read selected Vacanas of Siddharama (his vacanas use the ankita 'Kapilasiddha-Mallikarjuna'). If possible, visit the Siddharameshvara mandir at Solapur (the principal Siddharama-pilgrimage). Hold and worship the Ishtalinga. Reflect on Siddharama's life as the supreme exemplar of kayaka (dignified-labour-as-worship) — he built 68 lakes for his community.

Benefits

Siddharama of Sonnalige (modern Solapur, 1131–1200 CE) was a yogi-sharana who, before joining the Anubhava Mantapa, had attained extraordinary yogic siddhis including the construction of 68 lakes (kere) for his community by yogic power. After accepting Channabasavanna as his guru, he reformulated his entire spiritual practice into the orthodox Lingayat shatsthala. His Trividhi Cinnabasavanna and ~1,800 vacanas are foundational. The supreme exemplar of kayaka — labour as worship of Shiva.

✦ Special Note

Per the Kannada Drik Panchang. The Siddharameshvara mandir at Solapur (Maharashtra-Karnataka border) is the principal Siddharama-pilgrimage spot. The annual Siddharama Yatra at Solapur draws lakhs of devotees from Karnataka and Maharashtra. Dates per the Kannada Drik Panchang (drikpanchang.com, Karnataka reckoning); jayanti/lingaikya days cross-checked with the Suttur Math, Murugha Math (Chitradurga), Rambhapuri Pitha and Kashi Pitha almanacs.
