Lalita Jayanti — the Magha Purnima appearance day of Maa Lalita Tripura Sundari, the supreme Devi of the Sri Vidya tradition. Worshipped through the Sri Yantra (the geometric form of Maa) at every Sri Vidya kuladharma centre — Kanchi Kamakoti, Sringeri, Devipuram in Andhra (the largest open Sri Yantra temple in the world), and the Bhandasura yantras of Tantric Bengal.

Mantra

ॐ ऐं ह्रीं श्रीं — श्री ललिता त्रिपुरसुन्दरी पादुकां पूजयामि नमः

Om Aim Hreem Shreem — Sri Lalita Tripura Sundari Padukam Pujayami Namah

Salutations to the lotus feet of Sri Lalita Tripura Sundari — the supreme Devi of the three worlds, beautiful in all three (waking, dream, deep sleep). The closing mantra of the Sri Lalita Sahasranama.

How to recite

On Magha Purnima night, set up the Sri Yantra altar (the geometric form of Maa Lalita herself). Light 16 ghee diyas around the Sri Yantra (one for each Nityasundari — the 16 lunar Devis). Offer red hibiscus, kumkum, saffron, kheer, modak, and panchamrit. Recite the Sri Lalita Sahasranama (1000 names of Lalita) — the central scripture of Sri Vidya. Read the Lalita Trishati (300 names) and the Saundarya Lahari of Adi Shankaracharya.

Benefits

Lalita Jayanti commemorates the appearance of Maa Lalita Tripura Sundari — the supreme Devi worshipped in the Sri Vidya tradition through the Sri Yantra (held to be the geometric form of Devi herself). Sri Vidya is the most refined Tantric Shakta path. Worship on this day is held to grant: Sri Vidya diksha-grace, beauty (in body, speech, and inner being — Lalita is supreme Sundari), and the highest bhukti-mukti (worldly fulfilment plus liberation).

Devipuram (Andhra), Sringeri (Karnataka), and the Sri Vidya pithas of Kashmir are the most sacred for this night.
