Basavanna Lingaikya Din — Shravana Shuddha Panchami — the akshar-vihar (lingaikya) anniversary of Sri Basavanna at Kudalasangama, where he became one with Lord Kudalasangama in 1167 CE after the failure of the Kalyana revolution. The most solemn day of the Lingayat year. Observed at every Lingayat matha worldwide and especially at the Kudalasangama mandir-complex (Bagalkot district).

Om Shri Kudalasangamadeva Basavalingaya Namah
Salutations to Sri Kudalasangamadeva-Basavalinga — Basavanna who became one with Lord Kudalasangama
How to recite
Spend the day in extra Panchakshara mahamantra jaap (Om Namah Shivaya, 5 mala). Read Basavanna's later vacanas — composed in his final years at Kudalasangama as he reflected on the failure of the Kalyana revolution and prepared for lingaikya. Visit the local Lingayat matha for the special remembrance assembly. If possible, plan a pilgrimage to Kudalasangama (Almatti, Bagalkot district) — the confluence of the Krishna and Malaprabha rivers where Basavanna attained lingaikya.
Benefits
On Shravana Shuddha Panchami (per tradition, 1167 CE), Sri Basavanna attained lingaikya — became one with the Linga — at Kudalasangama (the confluence of the Krishna and Malaprabha rivers, modern Almatti). After the failure of the Kalyana social revolution and the dispersal of the Sharanas, Basavanna had returned to Kudalasangama (his guru-sthala from childhood) for his final months. His lingaikya marked the institutional end of the historical Anubhava Mantapa, but the eternal beginning of the Lingayat-Sharana tradition that has carried his message across 850+ years.
✦ Special Note
Per the Kannada Drik Panchang. The annual Kudalasangama Jatra coincides with this day — the largest Lingayat pilgrimage of the year, drawing lakhs of devotees from across Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and the Lingayat diaspora worldwide. Note: this day also coincides with Nagara Panchami in the Karnataka Panchang. Dates per the Kannada Drik Panchang (drikpanchang.com, Karnataka reckoning); jayanti/lingaikya days cross-checked with the Suttur Math, Murugha Math (Chitradurga), Rambhapuri Pitha and Kashi Pitha almanacs.
