Sri Krishna Pushya Abhishek — Pausha Purnima — Sri Krishna's annual coronation festival. The combination of Pushya nakshatra (Sri Krishna's favourite as stated in Bhagavad-gita 10.21) and Pausha Purnima makes this one of the most auspicious abhishekam days of the year. ISKCON temples in Vrindavan and Mayapur perform the most elaborate coronation ceremonies.

How to recite
Perform a grand coronation-abhishekam of your home Sri Krishna deity with panchamrita (milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, sugar) — and the prescribed Pushya nakshatra waters. Decorate the deity with the most royal ornaments. Offer coronation prasadam — sweets and rich preparations. Chant 16 rounds plus extra Sri Krishna kirtans.
Benefits
Sri Krishna Pushya Abhishek — Pausha Purnima — celebrates Sri Krishna's coronation as the king of Vraja. The combination of Pushya nakshatra and Purnima is uniquely auspicious — Pushya is called the 'nakshatra of all nakshatras' (the queen of nakshatras) by Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad-gita 10.21.
✦ Special Note
Per the Mayapur Vaishnava Calendar. 2026 instance fell on Jan 3, 2026 (already past). Sri Krishna in Bhagavad-gita 10.21 declares: 'Among the months I am Margashirsha; among the seasons I am the flower-bearing spring; among the nakshatras I am Pushya.' This day combines all the auspiciousness Sri Krishna identifies as Himself.
