Guru Jambheshwar Jayanti — the birth anniversary of Jambhoji Maharaj (1451 CE, Pipasar village, Nagaur), founder of the Bishnoi panth. Observed on Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami (the same tithi as Krishna Janmashtami, of which Jambhoji is regarded as an avatar in Bishnoi tradition). The most important Bishnoi observance of the year, with grand celebrations at Mukam (Bikaner — his samadhi), Pipasar (his birthplace), and at every Bishnoi village across Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

Mantra
विष्णो विष्णो तू भजे रे प्राणी
Vishno Vishno tu bhaje re prani
O living being, chant Vishnu, chant Vishnu — the mool mantra of Guru Jambheshwar, drawn from his Shabadvani (the 120 shabads).
How to recite
Begin the day with a pre-dawn snan (cold-water bath — niyam #1 of the 29 principles), then perform sandhya (twilight worship — niyam #5) facing east. Chant the mool mantra 108 times on a tulsi mala. Read shabads from the Shabadvani — Jambhoji's 120 shabads in the Marwari-Hindi vernacular. Visit a local Bishnoi mandir; if possible, plan a darshan to Mukam (Bikaner) or to Pipasar (Jambhoji's birthplace in Nagaur).
Benefits
Guru Jambheshwar (1451–1536 CE) was born at Pipasar village (Nagaur, Rajasthan) on Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami — the same tithi as Krishna Janmashtami. After witnessing the great Marwar drought of 1485, he established the Bishnoi panth at Samrathal Dhora (near Mukam) on Kartik Krishna Ashtami 1485 CE, giving the 29 niyams that uniquely bind dharma, vegetarianism, and the protection of all green life. His Jayanti renews the Bishnoi vow to live as guardians of trees, animals, and water in the desert.
✦ Special Note
