Mantra

सत साहेब। ॐ श्री दादू दयाल जी की जय।

Sat Saheb · Om Sri Dadu Dayal ji ki jai

Sat Saheb (Truth is the Lord) — the Dadu Panth greeting. Victory to Sri Dadu Dayal.

How to recite

Dadu Janmotsav (Phalgun Shukla Ashtami) is the birth anniversary of Sant Dadu Dayal (1544–1603 CE), the nirgun-bhakti saint of Rajasthan. Observed with a day-long fast, recitation of Dadu Bani / Dadu Vani, kirtan, and bhandara. The principal observance is at Dadu Dham, Naraina (Jaipur district) and at every Dadu Panth gaddi (Bhairana, Sambhar, Karadala, Marwar). Devotees chant 'Sat Saheb' on meeting and gather for satsang.

Benefits

Sant Dadu Dayal taught nirgun-Brahma bhakti — devotion to the formless Absolute — drawing equally from Hindu and Muslim seekers (his 152 chief disciples included both). Observance is held to grant inner clarity, freedom from sectarian attachment, and the householder-renunciate balance Dadu modelled.

✦ Special Note

Corrected Aug 2026: the Naraina Dham janmotsav mela is held on Phalgun Shukla ASHTAMI (per Dadu Dham Naraina tradition — the annual mela runs roughly Phalgun Sudi 5–11 with the jayanti on Sudi 8), not Dwadashi as previously listed. 2026: Feb 24. 2027: Mar 16 (udaya Ashtami). Confirm exact mela programme with Dadu Dham Naraina annually.
