Atla Tadde — Andhra/Telangana women's day-fast vrat on Ashwija Krishna Tritiya, the Telugu Karva Chauth. Strict fast (often nirjala) until moonrise, gorintaaku application, Gauri puja, and the offering of 11 atlu pancakes for the husband's long life.
Dates 2026–2027
Mantra
ॐ नमः शिवाय। ॐ गौरी हे गौरी पतिं मे देहि।
Om Namah Shivaya · Om Gauri he Gauri patim me dehi
Om Namah Shivaya. O Gauri, grant me a long-lived husband (or, for unmarried girls, a worthy spouse).
How to recite
Atla Tadde is the Ashwija Bahula Tadiya (Krishna Tritiya of Ashwija) — a women's fasting vrat specific to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the Telugu equivalent of Karva Chauth. Married women and unmarried girls keep a strict day-fast (often nirjala), apply gorintaaku (henna), worship Gauri at sunrise, sing Atla Tadde paatalu through the day, and break the fast only after the moonrise sighting by offering 11 atlu (rice-and-urad-dal pancakes) to Gauri.
Benefits
Held to grant a long-lived husband for married women and a worthy spouse for unmarried girls; the vrat is taken in continuity from Gauri's own austerity to win Shiva as her consort.
✦ Special Note
Ashwija Krishna Tritiya per Drik Panchang. 2026: Oct 28. 2027: Oct 18 (same civil day as Karva Chauth that year — the Tritiya tithi ends before moonrise on Oct 18).

Meal Idea
Nirjala or phalahar through the day; after moonrise (visible east horizon), offer 11 atlu to Gauri, then break the fast with atlu, pulihora, and kobbari undalu shared with the women of the house.
