Ashadha Gupta Navaratri — the second hidden nine nights of Devi, observed in Ashadha (the monsoon month, mid-June to mid-July). The companion to Magha Gupta Navaratri. Reserved for Tantric Shakta sadhakas at Kamakhya (Assam), Tarapith (Bengal), Vindhyachal (UP), and the Shakti peethas of Kashmir. Worshipping the 10 Mahavidyas during the monsoon retreat is held to be especially transformative.

Mantra

ॐ ऐं ह्रीं क्लीं चामुण्डायै विच्चे · दशमहाविद्या नमो नमः

Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vichche · Dasha-Mahavidya namo namah

The Navakshari mantra of Devi (Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vichche) plus salutations to the 10 Mahavidyas. The central mantra of monsoon Tantric sadhana.

How to recite

Set up ghatasthapana on Ashadha Shukla Pratipada with kalash and sown barley. The 9 days follow the same Mahavidya sequence as Magha Gupta Navaratri (Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshwari, Bhairavi, Chinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi/Kamala). Maintain strict fast on Ashtami and Navami. Ashadha Gupta Navaratri is the monsoon retreat — silent inner sadhana through 9 days of Devi-meditation.

Benefits

Ashadha Gupta Navaratri is the second hidden (gupta) Navaratri — held in the Tantric Shakta tradition as the most powerful Navaratri for monsoon-season Devi sadhana. The 10 Mahavidyas appear most accessibly during the rains. Sadhana during this Navaratri is held to grant: dissolution of past karma (the rains wash everything away), Mahavidya-siddhi, and the inner darshan of Devi.

✦ Special Note

In 2026 (Adhik Jyeshtha year), Ashadha Gupta Navaratri is observed in Nija Ashadha (15-23 Jul 2026), not the Adhik month. The 2027 observance is 3-11 Jul 2027. Dates per Drik Panchang (drikpanchang.com, Bengal/Amavasyanta reckoning), cross-checked against astronomical tithi computation.
